Make a Pine Needle Basket Class

Come learn how to use pine needles to create a small basket. We will be using a technique known as coiling. Coiling involves sewing bundles of pine needles together in an ever increasing spiral. We will also learn how to use the sheath ends of the needles to create a lovey surface design.
Learn to paint with watercolor from this wonderful, local southwest Iowa artist Emily McQueen. She will instruct your how to simplify your watercolor landscapes with a stunning color palette and dramatic value contrast. Students will learn color mixing and brush stroke techniques to help them achieve dreamy atmospheric paintings. You will be taking home your masterpiece at the end of this class. This watercolor class is for all skill levels from beginners to advanced. Emily McQueen graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in University Studies, emphasis in Elementary Education and Art. In 2021, she became the owner of the Fine Arts on Fifth Gallery and Studio in Malvern, Iowa, where she creates her own artwork, teaches classes, and shows the work of other local artists.
